Who
owns the rights to the love you leave behind? How do you leave your
memories to your loved ones? How do you make sure what memories go to
whom? How do you provide for your loved ones the love you leave behind
in your last will and testament?
Good
Daughter
is a play that examines familial and generational relationships, highlighted
in the tension between two sisters of differing dispositions as they
battle to reclaim the memories of their dead mother from their adopted
grandmother.
We
see the three women attempting to come to terms with their problems
and dissatisfactions, which, although not discussed openly, are felt
deeply as they are more similar than they imagine.
Reza
Zainal Abidin, the Director, has been involved in the Malaysian
theatre scene since 1991. Besides acting, he has tried his hand as a
make-up artist, dresser, front-of-house manager or just being Mr. Sibuk-around-the-scene.
As
a natural progression (or unnatural), he has been seen on TV doing the
odd appearances on local sitcoms until landing himself a regular role
on Terserah Anda. When he is more focused, he finds time to lecture
Cultural Studies and Marketing in the local colleges. This is his first
attempt at directing.
Cast
Corinne Adri's first acting role was in
Teck Tan's film Spinning Gasing as the second leading actress.
Since then this model-turned-actress has guest-appeared in TV2 sitcom
Buddies for 2 episodes (first season) and played a supporting
role in the Primadonna telemovie for Singapore's Suria Channel.
She is currently appearing in Wowboarding, a Singaporean sitcom
on TCS5.
Farah
Ashikin Ibrahim
has appeared in a number of theatre productions such as A Flight
Delayed (Dramalab) which played at the Singapore Festival
of Arts 2000, as well as Nenek Tompok Hitam, Fatihah,
Surau and Amir Muhammad's movie Lips to Lips.
Intan Shafinas's
second play after I Remember The Rest House last year,
where she played Syed Alwi's wife. She studied in Universiti Putra Malaysia
where she took the TESL and minored in English Literature. She is currently
working as the Marketing Executive at the Systematic corporate office.
She loves music, plays the piano and a bit of violin (Indian classical
style). She is also taking Odissi classes at the Temple of Fine Arts.
Christine
Wee has portrayed different roles in dramas during English
lessons at school. As a teacher, she has choreographed and directed
sketches and dances for a number of school concerts. Good Daughter
marks her theatre debut.
