Five
Arts Centre and The Actors Studio are pleased to present
The Directors' Workshop 3 to be staged at The Actors Studio Box from
March 28th - April 8th this year.
The Directors'
Workshop is a training programme for young directors which Five Arts
Centre started in 1998. In this programme, young theatre people who
are interested in directing, work with Krishen Jit and Joe Hasham
to hone their skills in directing.
The directors
who have come out of this programme are Charlene Rajendran, Anne James,
Wilson Wong, Nam Ron, Amir Muhammad and Chee Sek Thim. All these have
continued their work in theatre in different ways. Wilson Wong and
Nam Ron have opened their own theatre companies.
This
year we have two directors in the workshop - James Lee and Reza Zainal
Abidin. Both directors presented workshops of their work in January
to enthusiastic houses. Having reworked their plays, they will present
them as full productions from March 28th - April 8th.
James
is directing Harold Pinter's The Dumb Waiter, while Reza is directing
Good Daughter, written by Mira Mustaffa.
Both
are talented young men who will make fine theatre practitioners and
we are pleased to be training them as directors.
