Newcomer
theatre director Reza Zainal Abidin is learning fast that the old
adage 'it if ain't broke, don't fix it' is not something prescribed
by some veterans in the stage community when it comes to sparking
up a play.
James
Lee is in a trigger-happy mood and he is prepared to take all comers
these days. From renegade filmmaker to contemporary theatre activist,
the man is going great guns while firing warning shots to state
his intent that he is to stand his ground in pursuit of change in
the movie and theatre business.
A
new take is perhaps what good directors are about, and the evolution
of this creative process best sums up the participation of both
James Lee and Reza Zainal Abidin in this year's Directors Workshop.
