Fresh
from the success of Ang Tau Mui
"The
challenge has been to keep ourselves from being drowned by the
density of the text and bring out the very powerfully potent
theme of castration. To that end, I have chosen to create a
sense of instability by playing the text as a collage of abruptly
shifting fragments. I use this performance structure as a
supportive framework to emphasize the sense of schizophrenia
and disembodiment running throughout the text. The technical
and physical demands on the performers are great and I
only hope they come out of this exercise in one piece."
