ARTicle 19 is a youth based artistic and social movement aimed towards raising the individual and collective social consciousness of Malaysian society through the creation and experience of the arts.

ARTicle 19 is named after the 19th article of the United Nations' Declaration of Human Rights:

"Everyone has the right to fteedom of opinion and expression; this right includes the freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers ".

"... ARTicle 19's performances showed a maturity and subtlely that is rare among youths today. Theirs are obviously brilliant, inquisitive and creative young minds at work ... they have much to contribute to local theatre.
- Catherine Leong (Sunday Star, May 21, 2000).

"Social issues are very important to ARTicle 19 ... the very fact that they were presenting their own work lent an earnest and genuine feel to each performance "
- Beverly Lim (News Straits Times, March 3, 2000).

"The quest ... to create a culture ... for creative expression and a social conscience is a major commitment for ARTicle 19 "
- Niluksi Koswanage (Sunday Star, August 29, 1999).

"ARTicle 19 is a group to watch ... it's making its presence felt in the local theatre scene. Its printed works show great potential as do the performance history of the group."
- Catherine Leong (Sunday Star, March 12, 2000).
